Hernandez comps to Dexter Fowler athletically; tall, lanky, good speed and long strides. Like Fowler, he’s probably only a defacto center fielder which means Hernandez has to hit and hit for a little power to profile as a major leaguer.

The bat speed is there for average or better power and the swing path is clean from both sides, though he displays more bat speed and a more sound swing as a right-handed batter. Hernandez does show a hitch pre-swing — moreso as a right-hander — so it will be interesting to see where that is once he starts facing pitchers that will sit 92 mph or better once he’s stateside. Hand hitches like Hernandez’s aren’t always a big deal, but the tell will be his swing and miss rates, among other factors.

Hernandez’s arm grades above average for a center fielder and left fielder, but about average from a right fielder, perhaps slightly below.
