Everett SquaSox (SS-A) — Northwest League

No. 6 George Kirby, RHS (21)
SAT: DNP
2019: 2 GS, 4 IP, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 SO

7.19.2019: I was in attendance for Kirby’s second pro start and from his pre-game bullpen through his 21 pitches (13 strikes) in the game and the postgame bully, it was easy to see some things not as noticeable in his time at Elon via video.

He pitches primarily from the first-base side of the slab and creates deception with the arm slot and by keeping his front shoulder closed until the arm is ready to explode through release. He got some gloveside run on the fastball away to RHBs in this game and hit the edges for called strikes a few times.

He didn’t throw a lot of offspeed stuff, but didn’t have to, either.

The heater hit 96 mph and sat 92-94. His delivery was clean and consistent. Kirby has a terrific foundation of command mechanics, present velocity and feel that suggest a high probability starter with perhaos No. 2 upside.

2019: .190/.393/.342, 3 HR, 22 BB, 34 SO

No. 31 Jorge Benitez, LHS (20)
SAT: DNP
2019: 24.2 IP, 25 H, 8 ER, 16 BB, 25 SO

No. 23 Juan Querecuto, SS (18)
SAT: DNP
2019: 1-11, 3 BB, 5 SO
