Yep, that’s what I said in a recent episode of Baseball Things. I meant it. And it stands.
I didn’t see Kirby live before the draft. All I had was the word of area scouts and a couple of high-ranking scouts working on the draft for their club.
Every scout liked Kirby. One in particular liked him a lot.
After 21 pitches Thursday in Pasco versus the Tri City Dust Devils, I’m convinced Kirby fell into the lap of the Seattle Mariners. Or perhaps they did better scouting work than the clubs drafting just ahead of them.
You pick. I don’t care.
