Literally, all this is going to be is a bunch of videos. No analysis whatsoever.| 1. By: 01v-dubs on 06-26-2009 05:05:48 Nice video, the quality is pretty outstanding. Jason have you heard how Morbon is handleing the Appy League? Do the M's not see him as a CF? He's listed as a RF. |

While it's a minor thing, and I'm no big league pitching coach, I noticed that on Pineada's wind up, on his front leg, when he brings it up, his toe is either flat, or slightly pointed up, whereas Ramirez and Aumont have their toes doing the natural thing of pointing down. I know having a toe flat or pointed up can lead to a pitcher flying open a little too soon, does Pineda have any issues with this? His plant food looked pretty good in the video, but just wanted to hear your thoughts. |
| 4. By: wbathurs on 06-26-2009 14:18:47 I cringe everytime I see Aumont left knee lands, straightens and almost flexes backward. Isn't that a mechanic that needs to be fixed? |
| 5. By: ASUBoyd on 06-26-2009 14:48:37 Aumont is huge. |

| 7. By: Shawnuel on 06-28-2009 10:49:21 From one of the angles, it looks like Aumont throws across his body a bit, but it might be because of how he plants his left leg. |
| 8. By: AvidBaseballFan on 07-20-2009 02:47:36 It's scary to see how good these guys are right now in their league, for where they play their home games, but it's clear that they are atleast a couple years away from the majors. Aumont should be bending his knee on his plant foot. He's a tall kid and probably this is the main reason he leaves his leg extended after planting his foot (to help find the ground better and because control comes from the plant foot being down before release), as a taller pitcher he's got further for his foot to go down anyways from bring his leg up to a 90 degree angle to his body, but also his stride is longer meaning that he's landing at a lower part of the mound and even an inch can cause problems... I would probably get him to not stand so tall in his delivery... I'd have him drop down and push off horizontally, leaving less reaction times for the hitter and allowing him to plant with a bended knee and drive through his pitches. If he keeps on this way he'll have arm problems, stemming from back problems, stemming from leg problems, stemming from a hyper extended left knee. J.C. has the cleanest delivery and just watching these videos makes Juan the only of the big 4 that really seem untouchable in my eyes. Pineda looks great on paper, but I don't like how loose his delivery is... However, Felix was also very loose as a youngster, so it could still be very early to tell what we have... I like Ramirez a lot though... I think he could be quicker to the plate, and being less exagerated on his set position would be an improvement. I fell like he has 5-6 steps to his delivery and he really only needs 3-4... There seems to be a couple unnecessary movements that could lead to balks and easy base stealing. Pineda is interesting because his fluidity shows signs of comfort and confidence, but I think he needs to tighten it up still and deliver the ball with a more horizontal delivery like I suggested with Aumont. Pineda stands tall, which is great when coming set, but as he delivers the ball, I would like to see him drop down 2-3 inches and really get his legs behind the pitch more. I think he is another guy that would benefit from thinking to stay low and power his body through the delivery horizontally, meaning that I think it would clean up his wasted movements. Jason, I'd love to see a video of Adcock, Wild, Lorin, Pribanic, Hensley, Fields, and Kasparek... If you can track down any of these, it would be great! As for hitters, I can't find video of Liddi, Dunigan, Scott, Almonte, Gillies, DeJesus, Martinez, Carrera or Diaz, maybe you cna post some game clips both defensively and offensively of some of these guys or direct me to a site to find more minor league videos. Hope to see these guys up here soon... I'm sorry if I missed a post with some of these videos in it... Keep up the good work, your information and hard work is appreciated! |
