Prospect Insider - Triunfel is Back
Triunfel is Back

By Jason A. ChurchillBy 10-29-2009

Thanks to ESPN.com's Jason Grey for letting me know that M's infielder Carlos Triunfel is back with the Peoria Javelinas and is playing shortstop today at Mesa in the Arizona Fall League.

Triunfel's leg is fine, the club just wanted to back off after he apparently experienced a little tightness or soreness three weeks back.

Are you still down there? Some new Triunfel video would be nice.

Good, that's the news I've been waiting to hear.

I am not, Jon.

I won't get Triunfel on video until late February or early March when I head right back down there for Spring Training.

I will see the Javelinas tomorrow so I'll see if I can shoot any decent video or stills.

Game video isn't really useful for hitters, though, and you will be lucky to see him swing three or four times.

Defensive video would be nice as well, but it's a pain in the ass to get.

Hey Jason, What about targeting a young slugger like Brandon Wood from the Angels. I know he did play SS in the minros, but wouldn't that make him a good option to switch over to 3rd in the bigs. I hear his bat is a true force. Any insight?
thanks!

Wood got dealt in the Kazmir trade. Didn't he?

Never mind, that was Sean Rodriguez. Got my prospects mixed up...

Jason, did you see much of Taylor Green of the Brewers down in Arizona?

No Triunfel in todays lineup. Saw him before the game and have to say that it looks like he has been spending a lot of time in the gym and is filling out. He looks noticeably larger than he did @ spring training. Carlos is looking more like a 3B these days than a SS IMHO, judging strictly from body-type.

Aumont threw and was shelled, but got the win. Was told that Aumont was sitting 94-95.

Ackley played and had a solid base hit, but looked a bit bewildered when facing Katayama, a Japanese league lefty, who sat Ackley down looking with a slow breaking ball.

Wood did not get dealt in the Kazmir deal, no, and his bat is a HUGE question and he may not be able to play SS, either.

I did see Green, Brodie. Decent bat, doesn't play at third for me, though, and he can't handle second. That's going to be Kyle Seager, though, minus the "can't handle second" part -- I do think Seager is playable at 2B.

Yeah, Jon, defensive video is tough. You almost have to spend a whole series taping a guy to get 3-5 plays, and that still requires luck.
