Prospect Insider - Blake Snell, LHP
Blake Snell, LHP

By Jason A. ChurchillBy 04-03-2011

I went and checked out another area prospect last week, this time checking in on left-hander Blake Snell of Shorewood High School.

There doesn't appear to be a consensus on Snell among the area scouts I have talked to -- some prefer him to Redmond's Dylan Davis, some do not.

Subscribers can find out why that is in my scouting report on Snell, as well as check out the video I shot of him by clicking here.

Jason this has nothing to do with the article but it looks like Smoak has refined his approach at the plate (more so from the right side). Im not sure how much of Montero you have seen lately but you seem to be a strait shooter when it comes to evaluating players. At this point which player would you rather have, Smoak or Montero?

Nothing different mechanically or in his approach from either side compared to last August in AAA and September in the big leagues.

Three games in after a not-great but not-awful spring just isn't enough to use as anything, either.

Still prefer Smoak, however.

Just fine.

I'll have a notebook from the final week of MILB camp coming up Monday. Pretty good stuff in it.

Jason,

To you does this pitcher (Snell)have an easy motion or is it on the side of effort in his motion. Critique would help me learn what I'm seeing.

Thanks

Clinton's roster released.

Littlewood, Burgoon, Wiswall, Morla, Gi Kim, Mieses, Snow, Morban, Romero among the names.

Sort of surprised Blash is not on the roster.
