When pitchers and catchers from the Seattle Mariners officially report to the Peoria Sports Complex in just a few days, baseball will begin to re-enter the consciousness of many Seattle sports fan for the first time since the start of preseason football. This annual “re-awakening” of the casual baseball fan from their gridiron hibernation will begin to take hold by the middle of next month. The ‘Jack Zduriencik type of player’

Throughout his tenure as general manager of the Seattle Mariners, Jack Zduriencik has attempted to acquire hitters able to succeed in the pitcher friendly realm of Safeco Field. Often these players are bat-first corner outfield, first base types who are best served as a designated hitter. The term ‘one-dimensional’ encapsulates said player quite well. Some were bought low on, some came at sticker price. A few of the moves made were questionable from the beginning, with serious concerns arising from the value given up for what was on the return end….

Who’s In, Who’s Out: NL West

The National League West division got a whole lot stronger when the Los Angeles Dodgers’ new ownership decided to push their cards all in and spend as much as necessary to win.
