This news is likely 7-10 days late, so it’s not “breaking” by any means, but I haven’t seen this anywhere else, so…
The Arizona Diamondbacks have the best offer on the table for right-hander Hiroki Kuroda, but the gap between the 4-year, $43-45 million offer believed to have come from D-backs GM Josh Byrnes is not nearly what it was when the offer was originally made nearly two weeks ago.
According to a few scattered sources, one a front office member of one of the east coast teams that have had interest in Kuroda from day one, and the other an agent of a current Seattle Mariners player, the M’s increased their offer at some point from three years to four, and from around $8-8.5 million per season to just over $10 million per.
According to the same sources, there have been at least two other offers, believed to have come from the Phillies and the Dodgers, but neither offer is for four seasons.
