They don't provide the exact contract figures for press releases - but that doesn't mean that the exact amount isn't verifiable through other sources.

I assume that is the point some are arguing over here.

I have no problem with rumors.....but that's all they are. To call them lies, when they are inaccurate is a hypocritical, in my opinion.

Sure you can, ed, because only the naive waits for an official release to believe something is true.

Ed, let me handle things here.

You can't LIE about what isn't OFFICIALLY released, can you? Stuff gets leaked all the time, or you wouldn't have all the gems you get. But, note how many of those very leaks don't contain all the facts.

I love how some think they M's owe them full disclosure on what they are doing and what they are planning to do. If this was a public trust, you may have a point, but it's not.

So, I'm not going to rant and rave about crap, just because it's convienent. You can be upset because they didn't do things as you precieved they should...but that's about it. And, that's not a lie.

First off, I guess the M's are the only team in sports that says they do or don't something when they absolutely do.

Edtrak, get your learn on man, because whatever you THINK, is usually wrong.

Secondly, the Mariners are not the only people that have this information.

What are ya, new, ed? C'mon man.

And if the M's don't release that sort of info, how do we know, pretty much for fact, that Richie Sexson is owed $14 million in 2008 or that Ichiro signed a 5-year contract for $90+ million --- and that his contract comes with specific parameters that make the deal much more luxury tax friendly for the M's?

So yeah, the M's didn't leak any of that information, ed. Whatever.

And even if they didn't... someone did.

This stuff gets out, just like clauses in contracts, bonuses, options, the dollars...

I hate to burst your bubble.....but, the Mariners FO NEVER releases financial details about player contracts.....it's their policy. So, it's kind of hard to lie about what that don't do.

I didn't like the Vidro trade but, if they use him in a Raul/Vidro platoon and to PH off the bench, it doesn't appear he will be able to vest his option this coming year and the trade isn't totally as bad as it first appeared. We won't be stuck with another huge problem that can't be fixed in 09'. Vidro never was going to be able to vest his option for 09' nor was Guillen for 08' for more than $5M. This FO continually lies about what they are actually doing and the real question is whether 08' or 09' is the year they plan to finally complete the rebuilding.
