Lance,

Sure, I think Saunders could play there with the right work. Whether he can hit enough remains the question.

01v, #79 - I suspect if Guillen moves on Ichiro would move back to RF, with AJ taking CF, or the other way around. Looks like it's going to be those two out there for the next few years, anyway. That leaves LF, a place where you'd like to get some good power numbers from, like Balentien's.

Regardless, if Guillen goes the one replacing him next year will not be Michael Saunders. I don't believe anyone expects that. I certainly don't.

Nor was I proposing an immediate position switch for him to 1B. My question had more to do with whether he could be effective there if he was getting crowded out in the outfield at some point.

d2ret,

It's tough to tell whether Aumont and/or Tillman will ultimately be better pitchers than Morrow because we don't know the big-league role for each of them and we haven't had the chance to see Morrow as a starter.

Once I do, I'll have an idea.

I just looked it up and as of this post, Betancourt has a .291 average so I guess he's a good hitter for average now.

D2Ret,
Speaking of Betancourt, I was watching the game yesterday with a roommate and I was telling him that Betancourt could end up being a very good hitter for average and right as I said that, he hit that moonshot and I sware I thought it was gone! It wasn't but was I excited or what?! Given what I just said, is there any chance Betancourt ends up being a decent power hitter? That question is for anyone.

I saw Morrow throw his rarely used splitter the other day and that thing was pretty much unhittable. If he can get that pitch together and deliver it consistently, Im not sure he doesnt turn out every bit the pitcher Andrew Miller will be. I still take Miller, but I dont think Morrows far behind. Lincicum in my mind is best of the three. So complete, and such a good idea of pitching out there.

You think Tillman and Aumont will be better than Morrow Jason? I know its gotta be too early to tell but whats your personal take on that?

Betancourt is really starting to be an exciting little player out there is he not?

That HR Mr. Jones hit over the opposite field alley the other night was pretty darned impressive Ill tell you what. Makes you love his power potential and pure hitting ability. That easy swing reminded me of....should I really say it?...a right handed young Griffey type HR. The operative word here being REMINDED. Im not sayin anything, just that I stood up from my chair when I saw that thing go. It was pretty. I cant help it, im fallin in love with this kid. And whats more, this kid really seems to have it all there upstairs. Not a dummy, real natural baseball IQ (something ive heard out of Churchill plenty of times in the past). If we gotta ship him for Santana or Oswalt, I guesss you gotta make that move, but for anyone else, no way. This kid is for real.

Lol, Jason is feeling fuzzy inside. Ok no prob jesse, I just thought that statement was appropriate. No more, no less. One thing is true, we are all on the same side (the Mariners' side).

Reguarding your request to "all agree to get along", jesse that is a tender notion, but you must know, it is not a realistic one. People will always have disputes and that is a good thing. Arguement is constructive. When you lose respect for the fellow man in the midst of your arguement, is when it becomes ugly. The humanity is lost, and so too is the original arguement.

On second thought, maybe thats what you meant by 'just getting along', to show respect. I just wanted to point out that conflicts will always arise. How the conflict is carried out determines the man.

Gotta love the moral talk, on a baseball blog of all things! This may be no ordinary baseball blog.

And there's no way that the rotation in 2008 is Felix, Wash, Batista and two kids, even if one is Morrow.

I'm not sure the M's end up going that route with RRS, at least not permanently.

Morrow may not be ready to start at the big-league level in April, and if he isn't, I could see RRS doing the job for a bit.

It will all depend on what the M's can do this winter.

But one things is for sure. Morrow is going to be stretched out and the transitional period to him becoming a starting pitcher will begin in about seven weeks.

Jason, I know this has talked about this a lot before, but what's going to beppen to the M's rotation next year? There's at least 4 guys, Morrow, Fierbend, Campillio, an RRS that will be competing for one spot, oh, I forgot about Baek to. It seems like the team really wants Morrow in the rotation next year. The analist Bill Kruger was so impressed with RRS that he said he should take Weavers next start. The free agent pitching market this offseason is horrible. I don't see any free agents that are an upgrade over any of the players the M's already have. Given the nature of this offseason, what are the chances that they give the two rotation spots to two of their prospects?

d2ret-that was a very well thought out post. It was in a calmer less hostile sense, what i was trying to get across in #70 post. Thank you for your insightful opinion.

Edtrak- I will extend the olive branch and apologize for harsh tone and language i used towards you in my previous post. It was out of line, and i should have expressed my opionion in a more constructive way. I do respect your right to post your own opinion. The great part about this website is that we are all able to interact with others who have just as much allegance to the m's as we personally do. Lets all just agree to get along, and concentrate on our passion for the hometown 9. No hard feelings.

I completely agree with you Edtrak about differing opinions. It is fair and healthy for other sides to be explored. The only thing is, I observe two things about your posts:
1) Your opinion seems almost always to be opposing someone elses', to the point where it seems quite spiteful. You rarely agree with anyone, and if you do, you follow it with a comment on how your opinion is slightly different.
2) Often you state your opinion as though it is fact, or the 'be all end all'... and people just dont appreciate that. Most of us know that when we post an opinion, it is simply a take on one persons perspective. Your posts seem to demand attention.

I do respect your opinion quite a bit Edtrak, and im glad you stand up for yourself. It would be very easy to let everyone run you out of this website. Edtrak is just as big a fan as anybody if that isnt clear. I think Jason knows that, thats why he doesnt simply delete your posts. That is not the issue. The issue is one of respect towards other peoples 'sides of the coin'. You seem to fail to understand where peoples points are coming from a lot of the time to the point where you almost completely disreguard their opinions and run them over with your own. What makes it at all tolerable to all else who post on here is that you seem to do this using verbiage that is quite polite...yet still people pickup on the destructive tone of your commentary. It is plain to see that so long as you continue to do this, people will take offense.
In order to earn some respect back, try finding something in somebody elses opinion that you can agree with or build on. This will show that you do at least take others opinions into real consideration. Unless of course you dont care to do that. Perhaps you might rather go on showing how different your opinion is from everybody elses and get attention that way, but ill tell you what the attention you will get is not gonna be pretty.

All personal attacks aside, Jason did bring to the table some information that pretty much negates Edtrak's "Reason A" for never forgiving Rodriguez. I'm not sure, also, how the M's "didn't have equal opportunity to sign" him. I'm sure if they had ponied up 250 million, ARod might have stayed.

Reason B seems fairly presumptuous as well, and I agree with JAC that I can't recall reading any such claims by Arod or Boras. Any agent would pimp the team record to make his FA look better, though. That's not a Boras-only maneuver.

In all the discussion of fair debate and seeing the other side of the coin, I would think these points would've at least be acknowledged... that's what's frustrating about these silly arguments... no one wants to give up any ground.
